JOCKEY CLUB RACECOURSES SIGN EXCLUIVE DEAL WITH NECTAR.

Jockey Club Racecourses has signed an exclusive deal with Britain’s top loyalty card scheme, Nectar.  From 1 April 2008, card-holders will now be able to redeem their hard-earned points against race tickets for some of the UK’s most popular horseracing events.

Jockey Club Racecourses, which owns 14 of the top racecourses in the UK including Cheltenham, Aintree and Epsom, signed the deal with Nectar earlier this month.  The partnership will enable Nectar cardholders to redeem their points on tickets to events such as the renowned StanJames UK Guineas Festival, at Newmarket, on Saturday May 3.  Points will also be redeemable against race meetings at Aintree, Carlisle, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs, Exeter, Haydock Park, Huntingdon, Kempton Park, Market Rasen, Nottingham, Sandown, Warwick and Wincanton.

Andrew Gould, Acting Chief Executive from Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have joined with Nectar to offer rewards to their clients through our portfolio of courses.   Racing is a sport which is already enjoyed by many hundreds of thousands of people across the UK.  However we are continually striving to open it up to new markets and encourage more people to experience for themselves what a great day out a trip to the races can be.”

Some 10m households across the UK, which already belong to the Nectar Loyalty Card scheme, will be receiving information through the post about the new Jockey Club Racecourses deal plus details on how to redeem their points against race day tickets.  Another 3.1m card holders will be contacted through an email campaign promoting the race ticket redemption offer.

Nectar is the UK’s largest coalition loyalty programme with half of all UK households owning a Nectar card.  The scheme, which was launched in 2002, enables customers to earn points from everyday purchases and redeem them against an array of rewards which now includes race tickets.  Since its birth, Nectar has given back over £1billion worth of rewards to its collectors.

Mr Gould added: “On average, 19 Nectar cards are swiped by participating stores every second of the day which is an incredible statistic.  It really proves what a popular loyalty scheme this is.  As a marketing platform on which to promote racing at some of the UK’s top racecourses, there is no doubt of its power to reach out to new audiences.  We are delighted to be partnering with the scheme.”
