Kempton Park may be a key part of the jump racing calendar, but its all weather track makes it a year-round flat racing venue, too. Floodlit evening racing brings an electric atmosphere to the course, whatever the season, with the Champagne and cocktail bars offering panoramic views of the parade ring and track. This year sees 62 fixtures; almost half of them evening fixtures.
Kempton Park becomes the centre of the racing world each Christmas time when the King George VI Chase, one of the standout events of the National Hunt season, takes place. The King George VI Chase roll of honour reads like a who’s who of legendary horses – Arkle and Best Mate are past winners. However the race, and the course, will forever be associated with the memory of Desert Orchid, who won the race on Boxing Day a record four times, and in his later years led the runners down to the starting post.
Facilities
Kempton Park’s facilities ensure that every racegoer’s needs are more than catered for. The numerous food and drink outlets will suit any mood or wallet, from the Panoramic bar and restaurant, offering top views of the action with fine dining and cocktails, to simple snack kiosks. A special enclosure for families means young children are most welcome.
Locality
