Racecourses are welcoming places for everyone, and in order to be comfortable dress codes are only required in the premier enclosures. Generally the level of dress increases with the value of the ticket that you buy and varies from enclosure to enclosure. The dress code is printed on the back of each ticket however, please check the racecourses websites for further details.
In the Members, Club or Premier enclosure at certain racecourses, men are generally expected to wear a jacket and tie; for the Tattersalls, Grandstand or Paddock, smart casual is preferred, while it is casual dress in the Silver Ring and Picnic areas of the course.
On Ladies days at all courses, ladies are encouraged to wear hats and dress up, and there are often competitions on these days for best dressed ladies and sometimes men too!
Only at Derby Day at Epsom Downs, must men wear black or grey morning dress and only in the Queen’s Stand, with ladies wearing a formal day dress or trouser suit with a hat.
