Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director
Paul Fisher joined Jockey Club Racecourses in 2000 as Finance Director for its three London racecourses (then known as United Racecourses); Epsom Downs, Kempton Park and Sandown Park. He was promoted to Managing Director of Kempton Park in 2005 and set a new direction for the racecourse following the opening of its new all-weather surface. Having successfully completed this project he was made Chief Operating Officer of Jockey Club Racecourses in 2008 and successfully steered them through a significant cost reduction exercise in advance of the recession and was the catalyst for the new commercial focus of The Jockey Club.Paul has recently been promoted to Group Managing Director, which see’s him retain primary responsibility for 14 of the largest racecourses in the country, including Aintree, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs and Newmarket as well as wider strategic responsibilities.
John Baker, Group Director of Operations
John Baker joined Jockey Club Racecourses (previously known as Racecourse Holdings Trust) in June 2003 and was appointed as Racecourse Manager at Carlisle Racecourse. This followed a previous career in Racing that began in 1990 and included spells as Racecourse Manager at Worcester and Bath as well as a brief spell in JCR as PR Manager of the London Racecourses. In 2005 John was promoted to Managing Director of Carlisle Racecourse and manged the transformation of Carlisle Racecourse to the modern, vibrant venue it is now. John was promoted to the role of Group Director of Operations in 2010 and oversees the seven "smaller" Racecourses in JCR, in addition to supporting the Group Managing Director in a wide range of Group initiatives.
Richard Norris, Group Racing Director
Following completion of the BHB graduate programme, Richard joined Jockey Club Racecourses in 2003 as Jump Review Co-ordinator. Since that time, Richard's role within the Racing Department evolved, progressing from Racing Executive to Racing Manager with specific responsibility for managing the race programmes of our smaller racecourses within Jockey Club Racecourses.In September 2010, Richard was promoted from Racing Manager to Group Racing Director. Richard plays a pivotal role in securing and enhancing the group's fixture portfolio and is responsible for delivering and progressing the high quality race programme that Jockey Club Racecourses stage.
Colin Fellows, Group Property Director
Colin joined Jockey Club Racecourses from Safeway where he was Director of Building Projects having previously filled the roles of Director of Planning and Co-ordination and Director of New Store Contracts during a 10-year stay. His extensive experience of property management includes periods at John Laing, Arlington Securities and Trafalgar House.
David Dommett, Group IS Director
David joined Jockey Club Racecourses in 2003 with a brief that has since grown to incorporate The Jockey Club and each of its subsidiaries. He is responsible for the definition and delivery of an Information Services strategy that supports and augments the business strategy of the group and each operating unit.
Ian Sidgwick, Group Purchasing Director
Ian joined in 2007 to form the new function of Group Purchasing. His background was as a Global Purchasing Director within a major international company, where he led numerous strategic purchasing projects and ran purchasing training courses. Within JCR many opportunities have been taken, and continue to be identified, to obtain savings and other benefits for the courses via an approach that harnesses the leverage available to us when operating as a focused group.
