ABOUT KEMPTON PARK
Kempton Park may be a key part of the jump racing calendar, but its all weather track makes it a year-round flat racing venue too. Floodlit evening racing brings an electric atmosphere to the course, whatever the season. There are numerous fixtures throughout the year, almost half of them evening fixtures. Kempton Park becomes the centre of the racing world each Christmas time when the King George VI Chase, one of the standout events of the National Hunt season, takes place. The King George VI Chase roll of honour reads like a who’s who of legendary horses – Arkle and Best Mate are past winners. However the race, and the course, will forever be associated with the memory of Desert Orchid, who won the race on Boxing Day a record four times and in his later years led the runners down to the starting post.
